Note: compare with software 'Blood Center Manager'

First, close BCMA on Client Station(s). If enabled, BCMA performs Automatic Backup automatically at the Final Exit, even if it is early by schedule.

BCMA finalizing all active transactions before backup procedure start. During backup all currently opened dialogs become frozen and Main Menu unavailable to user.  The next animated message pops-up at the Station, where the bar Manager present in the Main Menu:

The Client Station(s) will get message 'Wait, please. Administrative procedure in progress...' After Backup finished, the message disappears and user may proceed as usual.

Center's staff must perform periodical maintenance of all BCMA computer Stations, but we cannot exclude possibility of Server hard drive failure (RAID architecture excluded from this consideration). As you can see at the next figure, BCMA automatically creates two subdirectories in the directory BCMABACKUP on the assigned drive (for example, CD-RW):

In case of failure when current database became corrupted, BCMA does not provide it automatic replace with latest copy. Center administrator must do it manually. Here is the procedure (it is assumed that staff can temporary continue servicing donors without computers support):

  • Open file backup.log and read where and when the latest Backup performed. For example, it has the next content: 02 May 2012 at 05:31:44 PM Auto Backup finished OK on D:\BCMABACKUP\BACKUP1\
  • Open directory D:\BCMABACKUP\BACKUP1\. You will see the directory DATA there. Overwrite current database, which is stored in C:\BCMA\DATA directory, with the Backup DATA directory.
  • Launch BCMA as usual.
  • Printout today's Donor Daily Log. Check today's Center paperwork about registered donors from the time of the last Backup to the current moment. Define donors, registered since the last Backup moment and repeat them registration and other procedures with BCMA. It must be done at the same day.
